COVID-19 Recommendations from the Morgan County Health Center
COVID-19 is a novel virus, (new) to human beings, and we do not have immunity. This virus is more infectious than the seasonal influenza virus. This is classified as a pandemic. It is more serious in the elderly and those with underlying illnesses but can infect people of all ages. Children under 19 rarely become seriously ill.
Our healthcare system can become overwhelmed if too many people become infected all at once. Implementing Social Distancing is extremely important to limit the spread, and slow the
speed of the virus transmission (Flatten the Curve). This will mitigate the stress on the healthcare system, allowing healthcare providers to focus on the most critically ill
patients.
It is important to reduce the risk of contact with infected individuals. Stay home when possible. It is crucial for any individual who becomes sick to self-quarantine for 14 days.
