Dear Community Members,

Here at Morgan County Health Center, we are committed to helping you and your family become happier and healthier. We strive to educate through prevention and outreach which enables us to help our families make happier and healthier lifestyle decisions. We want our community to know that we are here for each and every individual!

Out of an abundance of caution and to assist with our nation’s preventive efforts, We are now open for critical care only. Keep in mind the goal. The goal is to minimize the spread of the virus in the community so that the health care system is not overwhelmed, but able to care for those in need.

At The Morgan County Health Center:

Our goal is to limit clients who come into the office. We will utilize our phone, Facebook, and email for any critical services. (Many of our services can be delayed for two weeks or longer as indicated. If clients are in need of a service, those needs will be dealt with on an individual basis.)

If you are in need of a critical service, they will be by appointment only. You must call or message us to set up an appointment and we will give you instructions on the procedure. If we need to, we will bring you into the office but will have you wait in your car (rather than in the waiting room). You can call 573-378-5438 when you arrive.

COVID-19 Recommendations from the Morgan County Health Center

COVID-19 is a novel virus, (new) to human beings, and we do not have immunity.  This virus is more infectious than the seasonal influenza virus. This is classified as a pandemic. It is more serious in the elderly and those with underlying illnesses but can infect people of all ages. Children under 19 rarely become seriously ill.

Our healthcare system can become overwhelmed if too many people become infected all at once. Implementing Social Distancing is extremely important to limit the spread, and slow the speed of the virus transmission (Flatten the Curve).  This will mitigate the stress on the healthcare system, allowing healthcare providers to focus on the most critically ill patients.

It is important to reduce the risk of contact with infected individuals.  Stay home when possible. It is crucial for any individual who becomes sick to self-quarantine for 14 days.

The best way for us to protect ourselves, our loved ones, our community, and the country is to do the following:

  • Frequent handwashing - 30 seconds with warm water and soap.
  • Avoid touching your face and mouth.
  • Masks are important for healthcare workers, and for individuals who are ill but have not been shown to be helpful in the general population.
  • Avoid individuals with fever and respiratory illness symptoms.
  • Social distancing, staying 6 feet away from others whenever possible.
  • Avoid large groups of people, including stores, churches, meetings, etc., except when necessary.
  • It is best to avoid travel for the foreseeable future.
  • Stay at home as much as possible!

If you become ill, with fever or respiratory symptoms, it  is best to stay at home.  You should contact your healthcare provider or seek emergency care should there be significant worsening or difficulty breathing.

It is critical we work together to limit its spread and protect our community and country. Together we will overcome COVID-19
